From Venice, a transfer will take you to Cortina d’Ampezzo where you can check in at the base camp hotel.

In the morning, transfer to the breathtaking Lago di Braies, an alpine gem nestled among the Dolomite peaks. From there, begin hiking along the Alta Via 1 trail as it winds past the lake, through peaceful conifer forests, and onto sweeping high plateaus with the dramatic open landscapes that define the Dolomites.

Spend the day trekking through the stunning Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, a vast protected landscape of alpine meadows, panoramic plateaus, and dramatic Dolomite peaks. The trail winds through uniquely sculpted terrain shaped by water and the distinctive karst formations of these mountains.
Walking time: 4 hrs

Today’s trek leads from the Sennes Plateau toward the dramatic Lagazuoi massif, featuring the most challenging hiking of the journey with steady elevation gain and rugged alpine terrain. Rewarding views, rich World War I history, and an overnight stay in a mountain hut make this one of the most memorable stages of the trek.

Begin the day at Passo Falzarego, hiking past alpine lakes and panoramic ridgelines with sweeping views of the Ampezzo Dolomites. The trail descends into the iconic Cinque Torri area, where dramatic stone towers rise above alpine meadows in one of the most scenic landscapes of the trek.

Explore the breathtaking Croda da Lago area, hiking through alpine meadows, tranquil mountain lakes, and sweeping views of the iconic Monte Pelmo. The trail gradually descends through forests and pastures before returning to Cortina d'Ampezzo for a final evening in the Dolomites.

Important Trip Information
This trek is designed for active travelers who are comfortable hiking for multiple consecutive days in alpine environments.
While Level 3 treks are suitable for hikers with a normal level of fitness, participants should be in good physical condition to fully enjoy the experience.
Hiking days generally begin around 8:00 AM and may continue until approximately 4:00–5:00 PM, including breaks for lunch, rest, and photography.
Trails may include sustained elevation gain, rocky paths, uneven footing, and high-altitude conditions common in the Dolomites.
Participants should feel comfortable walking for several hours at a steady pace while carrying a small daypack.
Weather in the mountains can change quickly, and proper hiking gear and layers are essential.
Our experienced local guides and JMA Travel Director are there to support the group throughout the journey and help create a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding trekking experience.
